摘要

In this paper a state-of-the-art review will be presented on hydrodynamic modeling of the fluid bed family of gas-solids contactors and its possible role for design and operation of fluidized bed chemical reactors. After a brief introduction the different classes of fundamental hydrodynamic models will be discussed to gether with their physical basis and mutual (dis-) advantages. Also some typical results obtained from detailed hydrodynamic models will be presented. A few examples will be highlighted which demonstrate the current capabilities with respect to first principles modeling of fluidized bed chemical reactors. Finally the conclusions will be presented and areas which need substantial further attention will be indicated.
