The efficient and scalable synthesis of bis-isoxazole dinitrate (BIDN) and its energetic properties are described. The material has favorable sensitivity properties, and its theoretical and experimentally determined properties point toward its candidacy as both a melt-castable explosive, and as a propellant ingredient.
