This paper presnets the modelling of a Cu-W composite material stressed by important heat fluxes. The main physical phenomena taken into account are: heat diffusion, copper phase changes (while tungsten remains soild), dependance of vapour production rate on local temperature, and diffusion of liquid copper. Numerical modelling is based on a finite volume technique. The developed model allows one to compute the evolution of thermal quantities inside the material, to predict the erosion rate, -Finally, comparison of differnt simulations emphasises the importance of the liquid mass diffusion.
