Inthe paper, an improved procedure for the analysis of thermal energy storage devices based on phase change materials is presented. A Newton-Raphson type iterative scheme and the use of appropriate correction factors to the effective heat capactity are the new feaures that have been added to the original procedure in order to allow a strict enforcement of energy conservation both at local and golbal levels.
