ON DEVELOPING OF A TELE-DIAGNOSIS WEB-BASED SYSTEM FOR FISH DISEASE

In recent years, many researchers have tried to employ the techniques of artificial intelligence to the development of expert system aided to fish disease diagnosis. However, as conventional expert systems are usually developed for specific kinds of fish and the users seldom have chances to discuss with expert system or the experts during the diagnosis process. In the fact, there are more than 200 kinds of fish, so the system seems to be less useful to get accurate result for a farmer who really needs to diagnose fish disease. In this paper, we propose a tele-diagnosis web-based system for fish disease. When the web-based expert system can't solve the fanner's question, the system can give real-time diagnosis via long-distance face-to-face communication and synchronous diagnosis between the experts and users. With proper discussions, users can solve their problems and learn more knowledge about fish disease. And when facing the more difficult problem, many experts can diagnose the disease together. Moreover, we introduce the conceptual model of the system, and the adopted technology such as NetMeeting COM. Now the system has been tested and in use by fish farmers in the north china region. Some issues on tele-diagnosis system application from the experience gained from the research are discussed.
