Polycrystalline perovskite ceramics, BaCe_(0.95)Gd_(0.05)O_(2.975) and BaZr_(0.95)Y_(0.05)O_(2.975), were fabricated by conventional solid state method, comprising calcination of precursor powders, and sintering of powder compacts. Resistance of the samples was measured by a 4-probe DC technique in dry air, dry nitrogen, as well as in wet nitrogen, over a range of temperatures between 650 and 900℃, with platinum or gold electrodes. In order to vary the partial pressure of water, the gas (air or nitrogen) was passed through a water bubbler, whose temperature was varied between 25 and 70℃. In humid atmospheres, the resistance was observed to oscillate with an oscillation period ranging between several minutes to couple of hours, and the amplitude of oscillation being between ~2% and ~70% of the baseline resistance. Resistance oscillations were observed when the bubbler temperature was typically greater than 25℃. The recorded oscillation patterns are presented. Possible origins of the oscillations are discussed.
