摘要

In 1991, the UK Association of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Specialists (AGS) published a common format for electronically organising geotechnical data in order to facilitate data sharing. Since 1991 the format has been accepted and implemented by a number of international government bodies and consultants and has paved the way for a revolution in the methods available to engineers for interpreting Site Investigation data efficiently. The AGS format has now been represented in XML (AGSML) which has been developed by integrating two commonly used standards, AGS and GML. This paper describes the motivations and techniques used for developing a GML compliant version of the AGS data transfer format. It also describes an example web application that illustrates the benefits of the AGSML to users.
