摘要

Heave induced infrastructure distress hazard analyses play a key role in assessing the potential consequences of soil heaving in relation to existing facilities and the planning of new ones. In this work, a variety of GIS-supported spatial analysis procedures have been integrated for assessing and mapping potential heave induced infrastructure distress hazards in a pilot DFW metroplex area, where expansive soils predominate, using the computational capabilities of PC-supported ArcInfo software. Distress hazard assessments are based on soil plasticity index values, swell-shrink potentials, and soluble sulfate contents.
