Heavy metal pollution has become one of the most serious problems today. Chromium is a well known highly toxic metal, considered as a priority environmental pollutant introduced into natural waters from a variety of industrial wastewaters. In this paper, the removal of chromium III from dilute aqueous solutions using sodium dodecylsulfate (SDS) as an anionic collector was investigated by precipitate flotation at a laboratory scale, based on the analysis of the zeta potential studies and the flotability of chromium hydroxide precipitates. The results showed that the isoelectric point of Cr(OH)_3 precipitates is around pH=8,5 where a 96,2% maximum removal was reached.
