摘要

The approach to the decision on safety investment has become one of the prevalent targets of discussion about safety economics. This paper probes into an applicable method of applying the as low as reasonably practicable (ALARP) principle to the safety investment decision. Both the foundation principles of safety investment and ALARP are introduced, as well as the necessity and difficulties of making investment decision with these principles. Then utility functions of safety stakeholders are involved in order to set up a general model used to resolve these problems. After analyzing the principles and calculating a sample, this article proves that it should be reasonably practicable to make a decision about safety investment on the ALARP principle.
