Construction firms have suffered from work-related accidents. To reduce the accidents, companies should focus on managing workplace safety to achieve improvement in safety performance. One of best-known approaches for reducing accidents is an effective safety program. This paper aimed to investigate a set of key factors for successful safety program. What should be considered to ensure the success of safety programs implementation? Sixteen critical success factors (CSFs) were identified from safety literature, previous research and validated using construction safety professionals. The study was conducted through questionnaire surveys of 70 respondents from medium and large scale construction projects. The survey intended to gather the degree of influence of those CSFs on safety program perceived by respondents. Using Factor Analysis, our finding revealed that the 16 CSFs were grouped under four categories: worker involvement, safety prevention and control system, safety organization, and management commitment. In order to know whether the finding was valid, the factors were further tested using three case studies.
