Abstract: This paper proposes a fast packet switching architecture based on time-division multiplexing a photonic space-division fabric. Asynchronous time-division multiplexing is applied to a wideband strictly nonblocking fabric to resolve destination conflicts and queue packets on outputs. High performance is achieved in terms of delay-throughput characteristics, packet loss probability, and switching overhead parameters. Performance and complexity are evaluated and results are analyzed. !18
