Abstract: In order to support existing and future applications,Argonne is installing a laboratory-wide fiber opticcable plant. It has been designed to support anintegrated data/video service consisting of alaboratory-wide FDDI network and video teleconferencingsystem and has the capacity for future gigabit persecond networks. This paper describes Argonneapplications expected to push existing networkcapacity, our current network configuration, networkingresearch activities, and future networking plans. !1
