Ceramic matrix composites (CMCs) are becoming a set of indispensable materials for a number of applications in aerospace, power generation, ground transportation, nuclear, environmental and chemical industries involving high temperatures and extreme environments. In China, there has been tremendous progress in CMCs in the areas of scientific research, technological development, and commercialization. The HTCMC conference was introduced by Prof. Roger Naslain in 1993 and takes place every three years at alternating locations around the globe: Bordeaux (France, 1993), Santa Barbara (USA, 1995), Osaka (Japan, 1998), Munich (Germany, 2001), Seattle (USA, 2004), New Delhi (India, 2007), and Bayreuth (Germany, 2010).
