The turbine speed governor is an essential component in the overall unit control system.rnIn addition to its main function of continuously adjusting the unit output to meet therncorresponding grid input, it fulfils a number of other functions.rnAdditional specific functions based on the type of turbine are integrated into thernprogramme in order to improve unit operation, increasing security, optimizing efficiencyrnand assisting with maintenance in addition to having a positive effect on the return onrninvestment. These functions include:rn1. Jet dispatcher for Pelton turbine (automatically selects the most appropriaternnumber of jets)rn2. Kaplan On-Cam operationrn3. Sluicing modern4. Individual gate control for pump turbinesrn5. Redundancy solutionsrnUsing a detailed description of these additional functions, this article explains how theyrnare integrated in modern digital governors and the benefits obtained based onrnrecordings taken at different sites worldwide.
