Accompanied by the continuous development of renewable energy in energy system integration, correlation theory is applied widely and broadly. Ignoring the correlation between variables makes the result lack of relevance. In contrast, taking into account the correlation makes the calculation model more perfect and logical and the calculation results more realistic and scientific, which lays a more important foundation for system planning and operation. Therefore, basic correlation theories are proposed and introduced firstly, then the applications of correlation theory in energy system integration are combed and summarized based on the existing research. Besides, the key technologies of correlation theory in the application of power system are put forward. Finally, in order to promote the further application in energy system integration, the development prospect of correlation theory is further explored.
