In the recent years multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) technology has attracted much attention for its unique properties in terms of higher data rate. This work proposes a two-element wideband MIMO antenna using 3D post based radiators placed on a via-less high impedance surface (HIS) reflector. This antenna works in the 1.85 GHz-2.65 GHz frequency band with orthogonal polarization diversity. Each radiator has an extremely small footprint, and they are placed 0.03λ apart λ corresponds to the lowest operating frequency). A novel wideband decoupling structure consisting of a meandered line is placed between the two adjacent posts to improve the isolation further.
