This paper presents 3-dimensional numerical simulation results of a particle in cell model of an under-voltaged spark gap. The model includes pressurized gas as the dielectric medium at various pressures and of various constituents. Field emission is the principal mechanism for electron production and the model incorporates stimulated and thermal neutral desorption at various rates. Results for Ionization of the dielectric gas as well as the desorbed neutrals are also presented. The geometry of the switch is varied from hemispherical electrodes to planar electrodes. Data, at various driving voltages, is compared with experimental results.
