Switching power supply is the most important energy device at base-station site. Its reliable operation has a direct impact on safe running of mobile telecom network. Through health condition assessment the performance of power supply in the future can be evaluated and hidden rise of unhealthy status can be timely found, thus providing support to prognostic and health management (PHM) and condition-based maintenance (CBM) of power supply. We introduce a metric of health value to describe and quantify the health condition of switching power supply equipment. A method is proposed to estimate health state of the equipment based on alarm data, which is collected from monitoring system of telecom operator in China. With the principle of analytic hierarchy process (AHP) we establish a health-assessment model. Using this model, the evaluation result in terms of health status trend is obtained. A case study shows the effectiveness of the proposed health condition evaluation method.
