In distance education system, geographically scattered learners are heavily dependent on computers. The increasing use of computers needs a reliable network to establish links among the distant learners effectively and efficiently to meet the objectives set for distance education. This network should also solve the management problems attentively in delivering education irrespective of distances. In this process, designing the communication network for the potential available for distance education becomes imperative. In the approach described here, a hierarchical communication network model is being proposed. To enhance communication performance, related emerging technologies have also been discussed.
