摘要

The combination of hardware and software limitations within World Wide Web site development has created a set of unique constraints on the choice of available interface elements and the user's interaction with therm. Information about these users and the tasks they perform is also different from graphical user interface development, due to the diverse and constantly changing population on the Web and the more continuous, fluid nature of tasks such as browsing or entertainment most common to the Internet environment (Graphic, Visualisation and Usability Centre (GVU), 1996). It is also difficult to gain a detailed understanding of the user's environment in which they may access the site, which may include work, home, school/university and increasingly, Internet cafes.
