Experimental Studies and Remote Monitoring of IASC-ASCE Benchmark Test Frame

This paper provides a summary of the various vibration testsrnthat have been recently conducted on the test frame used forrnthe IASC-ASCE benchmark for vibration damagernidentification technologies. The tests conducted includernambient-vibration, forced-vibration and impact test of variousrnconfigurations of the test frame, which simulate differentrnlevels of structural damage. Detailed descriptions of therntests conducted, as well as modal analyses of selectedrndamage configurations are included in the paper. Thisrnincludes a comparison of results from ambient tests forrnvarious damage cases. In addition, a description of thernrecent implementation of an Internet-based system for realtimernremote monitoring of the test frame is presented in thernpaper. This system will allow participants in the benchmarkrnstudy to acquire real-time data from ambient or forcedrnvibration tests, which can also be remotely controlled.rnDetails of the system used for this purpose are presentedrnand discussed.
