Abstract: Human visual perception treats images at different resolution levels. Multiscale analysis tries to simulate this behavior by including the image in a mono-parametric family of images generated out of the first and called scale-space image. The purpose of multiscale analysis is to extract information from the original image features, studying their behavior through various scale levels. In a review of multiscale bibliography, one realizes that the two most studied features of the image are blobs and edges. This paper presents a new methodology, based on the use of tools provided by Mathematical Morphology, applied to scale-space image feature tracing. This methodology is here intended to solve two concrete problems: edge detection and depth perception of it.!17
