SmartTrac provides a robust, proven technology to improve thermoset molding efficiency and quality. SmartTrac impedance sensors have been proven through thousands of cycles in high volume SMC production. The three production case studies and one lab case study presented in this report demonstrate: 1. SmartTrac is robust and repeatable in a high volume production environment. 2. SmartTrac reduced cure times by 32% on a large SMC part with no sacrifice in product quality. 3. SmartTrac reduced cure times by 18% in a high volume production environment over a two month period. 4. SmartTrac demonstrated potential cure time savings of 38% on an SMC automotive body panel. 5. SmartTrac allowed a molder to better understand the effect of charge location on cure rates across a mold. 6. SmartTrac automatically adjusted cure times to compensate for mold temperature fluctuations. 7. SmartTrac identified SMC flow property variations in a production setting and enabled an efficient change in process variables to prevent non-filled parts. 8. SmartTrac identified material variations in a production setting and provided a mechanism to continually improve the SMC formulation. 9. SmartTrac's impedance signatures showed a strong correlation to phenolic cure rate and state. Using cure time savings delivered by SmartTrac technology, thermoset molders have concluded a full return on investment is achieved in less than one year.
