The North Bengkalis Trough is a part of the Malacca Straits PSC, which is managed by PT Kondur Petroleum SA. The current exploration target attempts to find hydrocarbon structural traps at the footwall of the Padang Fault. Structural reconstruction using seismic data helped in understanding the evolution of the structure and potential traps for hydrocarbon accumulation. The amount of extensional displacement in the synrift was determined by accounting for the distance of rollover panel displacement that progressed above the listric normal fault geometry. Structural reconstruction shows four periods of structural evolution. The compressional phase was interrupted by tectonic quiescence, which caused the second migration of hydrocarbons through Padang Fault. This acted as an effective conduit that delivered hydrocarbon into the hangingwall.
