FID, the International Federation for Information and Documentation, is greatly appreciative of the honour of being welcomed by the Prime Minister of this country. It makes us feel that the information profession has indeed come of age and an acknowledgement of the efforts of those whose combined labours over the years have underlain the huge changes that have occurred as we have moved into the information society. We are very grateful for his generous and encouraging statement.
