Although three hours were spent on the theme presentation and the panel discussion, it was obvious that there were a number of issues, such as sectoral policies which were not discussed at all and several of the issues that were tackled deserved a much fuller debate. Clearly FID has a role to play in providing an international forum where these discussions can be carried further forward. In particular it is necessary to widen the discussions to include a greater range of interests. This cannot be done at a single panel and therefore further opportunities will have to be created.rnThat said, the fact remains that a number of important issues were aired and awareness of the problems being tackled was increased.
