As part of the Programme for the Development of an Information System for Industry a six month post-graduation training plan was set up. This paper defines the role of the information intermediary in the information system, higlights some of the aspects of the methodology of training used in the course (which took place from October 1987 to March 1988), comments upon some novel organizational aspects of the programme and draws some conclusion for developments to be introduced in future courses as a consequence of the experience acquired.
