The demand of high energy density batteries for electric vehicles and grid storage has led to exploration of new battery chemistries beyond the current lithium ion technology. Among the many new chemistries studied, lithium sulfur battery is one of the most promising technologies that could offer high specific energy at low cost. This poster will present our recent progress on Li-S batteries, including understanding of LixS interaction with the carbon matrix, designing nanomaterials for encapsulation and selective deposition of LixS species. We demonstrated significant improvement in Li-S batteries performance.
