Although thixoforming complex near net shaped products in aluminum alloys is now anrnestablished technology in many applications, current developments are taking place in threernfronts: dynamic applications for load bearing components; alloy development (expanding thernexisting portfolio of thixoformable alloys) and materials recycling. Thixoforming has seenrncommercialization around existing alloy compositions based on the aluminum-silicon casting 356rnand 357 alloys. A number of players (both commercial and academic/research) are undertakingrnresearch in order to expand the portfolio of existing commercial alloys. This work reflects onrnboth traditional casting A356 and high strength A201 casting aluminum alloys discussed from anrnaerospace application perspective.
