The aim of this study is to optimize the economic net-shape forming of TiAl alloys for thernautomotive parts. Alpha-case reaction between investment mold and TiAl alloys were evaluatedrnwith mold preheating temperatures. In the case of TiAl alloys and Al2O3 mold system, there werernno a-case formation reactions. There were neither interstitial nor substitutional a-case formationsrnsince TiAl alloys have both negligible solubility of oxygen and low activity in molten states. Thernfluidity of TiAl alloys is increased with mold preheating temperature since they have a peritecticrnreaction that appears in the form of envelopment, surrounding each particles of the primaryrnconstituent. The thermo-physical variables estimated by casting process were applied to thernmodeling of TiAl alloy automotive parts casting using the Magmasoft ? . The results of therninvestment casting and modeling of TiAl alloys confirm that the casting route can be an effectivernapproach for the economic net-shape forming of TiAl alloys.
