Unidirectional (UD) glass fiber reinforced composites (GFRP) were prepared withrntwo different types of matrix resin: Plain vinylester resin (VE) and the same resinrndoped with 1% carbon nanotubes (CNT). Moreover, isotropic CNT/VErnnanocomposites were manufactured and characterised. The electrical properties of therndoped VE and GFRP were significantly increased by the incorporation of the CNT.rnThe nature of the materials changed from insulator, in the case of plain VE, tornantistatic, by the creation of a CNT network within the polymer matrix. The enhancedrnelectrical properties of the doped samples were used as a tool for the detection thernmaterial damage. Real-time monitoring of the resistance took place during the tensilernloading of the doped isotropic and GFRP specimens. In both cases, resistancernexhibited a sharp increase at about 80% of maximum stress.
