摘要

Many process capability indices have been proposed to measure process performance. To calculate the indices for characteristics, most industries normally assume the distribution of their process output is normal. But, it has not been proved that the collected data matches the assumption of normality.Therefore, it is doubtful whether the cp and pk cpk indices can really reflect the performance of a process. So it is one of the current hotspots in the analysis of process capability to study the process capability indices (PCI) for non-normal distributions. Aiming at some problems existing in this domain, this paper analyzes the necessity of normality test, then, categorizes and discusses briefly usual methods for the estimation of non-normal capability indices. Many proposed methods for assessing capability are contrasted and compared. Finally, the future aspects in the research of non-normal capability indices are suggested as well.
