For a ring segmented telescope and some others dilute aperture segmented telescope, active alignment is essential for closing the control loop. We choose an internal optical metrology to sense the tip and tilt of each segment for the active alignment. The local seeing is an important factor for the performance of this sensing. The effect of temperature gradient and turbulence near ground on the accuracy and frequency of the tip and tilt sensing is modeled. We conclude that the effect of local seeing must be considered for a low surface error of the primary mirror. Thermal control of the enclosure and telescope should be done for achieving a high accuracy and frequency active alignment.
