摘要

The design and development of controller for a precision positioning system using linear permanent magnet stepper motor (PMSM) for long travel range with submicron resolution is presented in this paper. Microstepping with proportional integral (PI) current control for PMSM is adopted for better positioning control. Phase currents are kept constant at any desired level by the PI controller. MATLAB-SIMULINK is used to simulate the system and the control algorithm is implemented on DsPIC30F4011 microcontroller. A suitable driver circuit is incorporated and the performance of the system is tested using horizontal length measuring instrument-¿¿¿Labconcept Premier 1000¿¿¿.
