Discussed in this paper is the concept of intelligent automation in medium and small-scale industries and that are involved in the manufacturing of small objects such as ball bearing in this case. It is an electromechanical system which includes certain mechanical parts followed by certain electronic assemblies properly interfaced to achieve the required motion in desired direction could be achieved through which the object available at the output could be moved towards the stacking unit. In this work, I tried to introduce a little bit of intelligence for stacking a product available at the output of a manufacturing unit. The electromechanical stacking assembly is microcontroller based unit. Programmable logic controller is a conventional option for manufacturing the stacking unit but microcontroller based system seems to be a better choice to upgrade the system for desired modification in the system for various requirements of the industry. For increasing more control capacity, we can use smart components such as intelligent proximity sensor module. No sooner bearing is available at the output, sensing is immediately initiated by a smart inductive sensor. The output will be processed by microcontroller card which will be driving the assembly in order to stack it properly. This paper is an effort for introduction of smartness in the current system shown. Provision is made to keep track of count of the total number of bearings to be packed and will not only be displayed on a liquid crystal display screen for real time reference but it could be sent as text message to the supervisor and a provision is also be made using a higher level language using hyper terminal of the computer. Now a conceptual modification could be the interfacing of entire semi electromechanical system to an intelligent system.
