摘要

This paper proposes maximum allowable wave heights for cargohandling determined by numerical simulations of ship motions forgeneral cargo ships, grain carriers, ore carriers, container ships and carferries. Also studied is how maximum allowable wave height relates tothe spectrum of long-period waves, the characteristics of mooring ropesand wave directions. The proposed maximum allowable wave height isused to calculate the wharf operation efficiency of ports and harborsthat face open seas.
