The super-modulating soybean mutant Sakukei 4 derived from a cultivar Enrei was reported to produce high yields in some conditions. This study was conducted to clarify the effect of arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) colonization on the growth of the plant by field and pot experiments under various conditions. Sakukei 4 exhibited higher nodulation and colonization of AM fungi than Enrei. The data of the pot experiments suggested that Sakukei 4 grows well with AM colonization and with initial nitrogen application at elevated temperatures.
