LiFePO_4 has received much attention as a next-generation cathode material for lithium ion batteries. One issue that has to be overcome for practical applications is the small Li diffusivity of the active material. For that purpose, researchers have reduced particle size to decrease the diffusion length [1,2]. They are also working on improving the intrinsic properties of the material by methods such as doping or surface coating [3,4]. But to effectively assess these modifications, an easy method for determining Li diffusivity is needed. We have demonstrated in this study that the apparent diffusivity and electrode resistance of LiFePO_4 can be obtained from a detailed analysis of the cyclic voltammetry (CV) profiles.
