This paper describes the state-of-the-art of the dehumidification system for main cables, vibration control for suspender ropes and expansion joints in the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge, Especially, the dehumidification system keeps in good condition after completion in April 1998. The damping devices for suspender ropes were damaged and improved during operation. Currently, the expansion joints are reinforced in detailed structures. The durability of this bridge was enhanced by these maintenance works.
