摘要

This paper presents the main results and conclusions of a three year EU project (REMPULP) where the behavior and distribution of specific nitrogen compounds between solid, liquid and gaseous streams were studied for three European kraft pulp mills pulping a softwood mixture (80% spruce/20% pine); eucalyptus; and both a hardwood mixture (80% birch/20% aspen) and sawdust, respectively. The work is a combination of laboratory-scale investigations, mill scale sampling and measurement campaigns, and modeling and simulation studies. The discussion includes an overall view on how the interaction between the different processes inside the pulp mill influences on the behavior of the specific nitrogen compounds. A view of the current research needed is given.
