摘要

In the year 2040 factor 20 improvement of environmental impact is necessary. Measuring the environmental impact of building provides insight into the progress or decrease with respect to the factor 20. One environmental assessment type is determining the environmental index, by relating the environmental load of the studied building to that of a certain reference. There are three ways of defining a reference: 1. basing it on the design of the studied building, but changing the building materials and services 2. basing it on the gross floor surface and 'constructing' a fictitious reference building around it 3. basing it.on the number of people for whom the building is designed and relating that to a reference floor surface, followed by the 'construction' of a fictitious reference building. A case study with 12 government office buildings shows that the definition of the reference is stipulating for the resulting index. This paper describes the different reference types and presents results and conclusions of the government office buildings assessment.
