This paper describes the production of a Ventilation Check Technical Memorandum produced by the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) through a UK government funded Partners in Innovation (PII) project. The procedure comprises a checklist and standard method that outlines the tasks and procedures necessary to maintain a ventilation system in good working order. It is designed to highlight areas of inefficient performance of a system to enable remedial action to be taken. The tool provides a standardised approach to ventilation system maintenance that is applicable to the non-domestic building stock, and supports the adoption of good practice across the building services profession.
