摘要

A large amount of integration has occurred between the disciplines of artificial intelligence and database systems in recent years. This paper focuses upon one such aspect of this integration; the development of intelligent database design tools. We present a multi-faceted framework for the evaluation of such tools, and make use of this framework in order to provide a comparative overview of existing work in the field, the aim being to evaluate research activity to date, and to identify future research directions.
