摘要

This paper proposes a novel class of computation, literary computing, as an expansion of knowledge-based computing and affective computing. Based on psychological observation of literature appreciation processes, four layers of understanding were defined; understanding as problem solving, understanding as affective reasoning, understanding as emotion evocation, understanding as evaluation evocation. A wish generation phase in a reading process was introduced as a characteristic phenomenon of literary appreciation, and a computational mechanism for it was described. The possibility to model the wish generation process as well as its relationship to knowledge computing and affective computing is also discussed.
