The effect of the influent concentration of COD on denitrifying phosphorus removal in the anaerobicanoxic-aerobic sequencing batch reactor system was investigated. The tests of the denitrifying phosphorus uptake under anoxic stage were studied. The relations among the rates of released phosphorus and phosphorus uptake and the level of poly-β-hydroxybutylate with different concentrations of COD were analyzed. The results show that when the influent concentration of COD is 250 -450 mg/L, the phenomenon of denitrifying phosphorus uptake is very remarkable. When the influent concentration of COD is approximately 400 mg/L, the levels of phosphorus-release under anaerobic condition and phosphorus uptake under anoxic condition are the highest values, and the rate of phosphorus uptake is also the highest.
