An experimental investigation was conducted to visually observe nuclear boiling phenomena in wedge gaps. Boiling nucleation was observed to favorably occur and bubble growing is faster in areas with larger room space in narrow gaps for an identical heated plate whose surface had approximately same nucleation performance everywhere. The nucleation on the surface in relatively narrow zone was more difficult and needed higher heat flux than in larger room space zone. The nucleation and bubble dynamical evolution in same gap spacing zone are identical and the growth rate was maintained at a constant value for D ≈ 0.1 or greater than 0.1.
