摘要

Calculations for the determination of the load bearing capacity of composite columns under exposure to fire will be presented. The calculations are a part of a running research project at the Darmstadt University of Technology. The main attention of the research project is given to concrete filled hollow sections with an embedded steel section used in high rise buildings because this application tends to cause the greatest problems due to the lack of codified rules. Firstly the temperature distribution over a cross section of a composite column accomplished with the FE-Program ANSYS will be explained. The influence of thermally induced stresses on the load bearing capacity will be illustrated. Thermally induced stresses can be assigned to structural imperfections and have to be considered for the determination of the load bearing capacity of composite columns under high temperatures. The geometrical imperfections and eccentric loading will be also included within the mechanical analysis.
