摘要

Natural gas is becoming available as a fuel in many regions of the world that previously depended on fuel oil for heating in copper smelting and melting operations. Natural gas has many advantages over oil as a fuel, including price, chemistry, and controllability in reverberatory heating, anode melting, launder heating and shaft melting operations. Proper equipment selection and design is necessary for making a conversion from fuel oil to natural gas a success. This paper discusses items to be considered while making the change from oil to gas.
