The dispersion characteristics significantly influence the local air quality. Some of the mesoscale influences upon the local transport and dispersion of emissions from industrial sites are low-level inversions; inversion break-up; daytime mixing heights and local winds. This paper focused on the mathematical model suitable for dispersion of dust and gaseous pollutants to predict the dispersion of pollutants ( SPM and SO_2) in the atmosphere from The Kolaghat Thermal Power Plant (630 MW) in West Bengal (India) around 65 km East-North-East of Kharagpur, the primary sources of air pollutants. The level of pollutants theoretically predicted have been compared with the experimentally observed values.
